Leadership and Growing Series 1 – Three Insights for Young and Emerging Leaders Like Me!

I am a young and emerging leader, with a lot of growth still happening to me. Today again, I was reminded that leadership is a process and journey, and we keep improving daily.

While there are so many perspectives and excellent materials on leadership, I have also found out that each of our leadership journey is unique to us. In this article which I had shared on my LinkedIn page before, I speak from the perspective of a young and emerging leader from Nigeria, Africa. The insights captured on each slide are insights that I have garnered from my challenges and experiences, and I hope they help a growing and budding leader like me.

Insight 1: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7.

Insight 2: You need your soul to thrive, and bitterness and regurgitating painful experiences will not help you lead effectively.

Insight 3: Feedback, the one that is not nuanced by other people’s insecurity, jealousy, unappreciation of your positives, personal failures, e.t.c, is essential. Caveat: Be careful who has your ears and your mind, the feedback you internalize must not be damaging to your soul and authenticity, it should make you better!

Did any of this resonate with you? Or do you have some additional insights to share? Kindly share with me by dropping a comment below, I’d be sure to engage.

Well said. Feedbacks help one to get back on track, know how he or she is doing good, measure the level of work done and so on. This is insightful. Keep it up!
