ASSURANCE

About a year ago, life as we know it changed. Words like lockdown, quarantine, pandemic, and physical distancing became a part of our vocabulary. Most conversations, formal and informal, included an encouragement to stay safe. The COVID-19 pandemic has been the most significant disruption experienced globally in the last few decades. It has changed how we worship, work and even wed! Change of an unprecedented scale!

Well, that’s the big picture. On a micro level, most people are dealing with change and the uncertainty that comes with it. Job losses, health challenges, the loss of loved ones, and financial difficulties are examples of the downside of change. Personally, in the last eighteen months, I have had to deal with a change in location, new responsibilities and sometimes, a sense of inadequacy. So many times, I’ve gone to God in a helpless state, with the recurring phase of my prayer being, “God, help me. I can’t handle this on my own.”

The king’s remark in 2 Kings 6:27 rings true. During a siege-induced famine, a woman asked the king of Israel for help. He answered, “If the LORD does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?” It was this same question of help that the Psalmist raised in Psalm 121:1, “Where does my help come from?” and answered in verse 2, “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Amid challenges, we are reminded of the assurance we have in Christ. Assurance, assurance 💃🏽… blessed assurance 😃. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, “though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

–  Psalm 46:1-3.

No matter what we face, we are assured of the Father’s help. Of Our Father’s help! God is within her. She will not fall—Psalm 46:5. The Holy Spirit of God dwells in us. We will not fall! We will not fail! We will not falter! We are assured of victory because of our identity in Christ. We are more than conquerors! Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus! That’s our assurance! That’s the certainty we have.

Are you reading this with questions on your mind or the consideration of ending your life? Today, God is sending you a reminder. He wants to let you know that He is dependable, that your victory is assured, that you won’t be put to shame and that you are going to make it out of that dark place. No one who hopes in God will ever be put to shame – Psalm 25 verse 3

Relax, God no fit shame us. Na the assurance wey we get be that.
